I am not arguing the rights or wrongs, the innocent or not, merely pointing out that the case at hand against Julian is an allegation of sexual misconduct, not one of espionage, yet he only responds to the espionage issue.

I am not arguing the two aren't linked, merely that if the truth is so important why not issue a full statement detailing exactly his view of the events, make it as official as possible, send it direct to the Swedish prosecutor , leak it the world and get some more sympathy. All that is heard is the women's statements to the police.

For me it seems to be another case of spinning the media for maxiumum effect, just what wikileaks purports to be against, but exploits as well as anyone.

But, no matter what - if I was fearing for my life and paranoid about being tracked by secret government agents I am not sure that I would sleep with two women I just met two hours ago and had never seen or heard of before. Isn't that the oldest trick in the book ?

Even more interesting what sort of women would go to the the bed with celebrity.
But you are right, All truth should be leaked thoughtfully.
As there is no secret in politics that Wiki leaks could obey , the same full
account of that personal encounter should be made public. Exactly minute by minute.
Wait a minute.
Then Julian will be accused of spreading a porn, written, photographed or videotaped, doesn't matter.

Apparently Julian has invitation from that women to spent a night at her bed. Full consent for first round of the sex, then suddenly surprise at second attempt the same night.

And Apparently she was asleep for the second course and unsafe sex used.

What's apparent is that he should probably answer the charges at hand and not some charges that haven't been laid.

I guess the whole conspiracy angle is reenforced by things like him have a Red notice with interpol:

An Interpol red notice for not using a condom.

This should make a good tele movie , "wiki founder attempts to escape USA craw not craw"

The best method I've heard so far was ...... The embassy is to hold a fancy dress party ... 500 guests arrive dressed as JA , 501 leave !!

Maybe should seek cover in any Muslim embassy not Ecuadorian?
Could escape in burqua easy.
Alternatively nobody there will treat complains seriously and resolve that whole problem by marriage to both womens at once even without women consent as long as parents agreed
Bin Laden has six wifes at least and not single complain.

I am pretty sure that Britian has to 'approve' a diplomat. You can't just send anyone you want to another country to be your diplomat, the rights the embassy and employees has is by the grace of the receiving country. First they agree to you establishing an embassy, then to who your ambassadors and diplomats are.

Damn! I should've known it was too easy.

Some ask why the Swedish police can't travel to Britian to question him to break the apparent deadlock. Perhaps any such questioning can't then be used in any Swedish court case ??

I have heard fairly reliably (ie via media news) that Swedish investigators have conducted similar investigations by phone or by travelling to the country of the interviewee. Assange has certainly offered to make himself available to Swedish investigators to answer their questions - in Britain.

^^^ yes, that may be the case but he is not sought just for interview. An extradition warrant has been signed and all countries that are parties to that treaty (ie: decent countries) are bound to send him to Sweden if located. That is a bit different to "we want to ask you some questions". It is more "we have enough evidence and we want you in Court" - big difference.

Interesting article in the paper today re: the British politician who has said it is not rape (in the true sense of the word) if she consented and then round two was started when she was asleep.
