why do muslims not eat pork ?????

Here's your order....
I'm not 100% sure why muslims don't eat pork, but a lot of cultures tell you not to eat swine. Which reason do you want?
Amazonian rituals require you to have not eaten pork for 6 months.
Pig meat is believed to be very similar to human meat and a lot of the pathogens can cross infect.
In the days before antibiotics you were much more likely to get sick from eating pig meat.
Lots of cultures had issue with pigs eating their own faeces, and the belief that "you are what you eat".

Generally pork is considered a dirty bad meat.

Christianity also discouraged it's consumption. Judaism, Sikhism... now that I think about it, pretty much every religion discourages its consumption.

So y'all enjoy breaking with tradition and STFU.


BTW: Halal is the preparation of the meat... I believe ethical treatment of the animal and bleeding there of.... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halal

A friend told me story years ago, there's a well known steakhouse in Richmond called Vlados, a group of mates went there, orders being taken, when this bloke, brent says um, do you have seafood, the waiter says yeh uh we have water buffalo.

Pigs are 'unclean' and apparently jews and unbelievers were turned into pigs. For a comparison, Christians aren't allowed to eat any meat on friday. Why? who knows..

Lots of theories on why the practice started. Apparently fire fighters don't eat roasted pork cause it reminds them of burnt bodies. And in PNG cooked human is called 'long pig'.. Also Pig are so close to humans that pig heart and skin transplants have been successful. Pig to human transplants, not the reverse.

The look of the pig, the taste of the pig, the sound they make in slaughter and the obvious intelligence of the pig were all possible reasons for the initial taboo..

Wow! Aggro shown at a shop owner for no reason...if he wants to make pizzas from horse-sh!t, it's his shop - he can sell (& not sell) whatever he wants to!

If it's a marketing ploy & he goes bust, so be it. If it attracts halal customers only, and they come running, then it's what's called targeting a 'niche' market & he could do well from it.

Not as un-Italian than pineaple!

There is a bar/pizza place on Magnetic Island that has a 'no pineapple' sign (picture of a pineapple with a line through it) on display. Their menu clearly states that you CANNOT change any of the pizzas offered, it specifically warns not to even ask about pineapple!
A little bit 'in ya face', but at least they are upfront and you know what you are getting (or, more to the point, not getting).
