Hey guys i just came through Singapore airport and the HD GoPro was selling for $256.00 US. I am kicking myself now as i spent 5 hours wandering around looking trying to decide what to spend my spare moolah on and forgot to go back and buy a couple. The kicker was that they came with extras. A full set of mounting parts!!! I did actually remember as i was putting my bag in the overhead locker and checking that i had everything with me.

We've recently found that in the 60fps r1 and r3 modes, some of the class 4 cards aren't fast enough to keep recording while the first 4GB chapter is being saved. This hasn't been an issue with most of the faster class 6 cards.

Unfortunately this problem impacts the kingston sdhc 32gb class 4 card

just incase you guys are interested;

Cineform's Neoscene is quite an efficient intermediate codec package that will work with a good range of video editing apps, and retains arguably 99% + image quality. It's a good balance between cpu usage, hard disk space and decoding speed.

I've messed with it quite a lot and found it will allow editing of full HD footage on slower dual core machines with fewer hiccups and slowdowns when applying transitions and colour correction etc. on machines with typical IDE or SATA (non raid) hard disk setups etc.

but yes, its about $150 aus

gopro.github.io/cineform-sdk/

There are a few other free codecs that u can try too, but what i have found from my experimenting, they still aren't as good as the Neoscene one just yet for full HD editing performance on slow machines

Neoscene is the Pro solution and yes it's Visuably Lossless. If you edit a lot it's worth the money. I use it on all my AVCHD projects from GoPro to Pro cams. But all the free options work well once you get the workflow down pat and follow it every time.

A snippet more update info

The next FW upgrade will have a One Button function. Basically, One button mode is just that...hit the power button in this mode and it will automatically start recording in whatever setting you have the camera in. No need to hit the shutter button. Once you are ready to stop recording, hit the power button again and it will stop, save the file and then shut off automatically.

I'll be testing this Beta FW later today.
(Please don't ask for a copy i can't distribute it)

I've been using a Sandisk Ultra 16gig class 4 for the last couple of days, and it's worked flawlessly for two lots of continuous 2 hour recordings in mode 3, and also for mode 5 - if this info is any help to you guys

A tip for minimising fogging of the housing - is to pre heat the gopro and/or case before sealing it up. With my other water proof housings I've ran the camera for 15 minutes before inserting it into the housing. This is a little hard to do with the gopro's current firmware unless you've got a spare battery to waste, but if the new firmware ever gets released, you should be able to run the camera off the USB adaptor till it heats right up, then pop it into the waterproof case and seal it ready to go.

Used the card for continuous 2h+ recordings in mode 3 without a hitch, for last month or so. Pretty safe to say it's ok i'd think?

Hi guys,

I had the misfortune of a mate dropping my HD GoPro on to the road last Sunday. This was after he ran over my SUP with his own board and took off the gel coat. He didn't have a good day!

I have managed to source some replacement lenses at a crazy price of $33 for two! I ordered them yesterday and they arrived today. I thought that it was such good service the company deserved public thanks (and I don't think Seabreeze sells the bits and pieces). I bought it from www.goprosport.com.au.

Laurie, if I've posted something I shouldn't have then sorry. Just wanted to share a good company with the Seabreezers.

Cheers

These, lens replacements, and housing replacements should be available in the online store in about a week. I got to trial the anti-fogs ($19.95), and they work well - good to have the confidence of no fogging!
