i play 4 and 5 string G&L Basses (L2000 & L2500).
I have an Ampeg 500W solid state bass amp and avalon U5 Preamp.
Been playing for 16 years.
Made a few of my own basses too check out the pix below...
inspriations are les calypool, geddy lee, rex horan, jaco pastorius, cliff burton, robert trujillo.
have home studio which i make some tunes in my (rare) spare time...
am waiting for the mid life crisis before i join a real band, either that or a real GFC that requires me to sing for my supper or some tragic acident that stops me from windsurfing...

Rex Horan! Nice to see his name up there with the other influences. Great guy and unreal player. Any idea where he is at these days? Last saw/worked with him over a decade ago now.

Lesson number one - render the shading effect of your cap useless.

like all very poor guitar players i have a bunch of cheap bad sounding guitars and way more effect units than i know what to do with.

I started at age 16, and put the guitar away at 25 - just got busy. it is easy to lose your way. Anyway, i saw Tommy Emmanuel play in my hometown in 2005 - anyone who has seen him play fingerstyle accoustic will know what i am talking about.........amazing. Right there, i bought an acoustic and started teaching myself figure style. Haven't looked back in 5 years, although my practise waxes and wanes - until now - I am trying a new structured schedule.

Guitar I play: Gibson J45
Strings: Elixir Nanoweb - sound great for coated strings, can last for 6 months even with the toxic sweat that pours from my hands.
guitar in storage: Fender Stratocaster Deluxe with Lace Sensor Pickups, 1990, sunburst - amp Fender 85, also in storage - i am all acoustic now.
Self rating: love playing in the solace of my guitar room, and with friends, but not in front of crowds, dont have the confidence in my ability

I cant read music, but have put together about 5 fingerstyle tunes that are my own. I learn from TAB and ear. Have just started a regime of getting up each morning and I practise for 40 minutes on a piece I am trying to learn before i head off to work. I bought a Yamaha silent guitar for my early morning practise so i dont piss the neighbours off.

a mate recently picked up a gibson les paul robot.

i'm hoping to have a go tomorrow is all works out. can't remember if it's the jcm800 or 900 it's plugged into. but who cares at that point.
