It's good that pubs and cafe's are smoke free and littering is littering plain and simple and smokers are not the only offenders.

Whinging because you still get the smell of cigarettes when you walk out of a shopping centre - come on mate, a little give and take.

Can't stand the kn w4nkers that give the little *cough, cough* when they see someone with a cigarette.

My partner and family don't smoke so I'm very concious of who my smoke is affecting yet the cigarette I haven't even lit yet can produce filthy looks and coughing fits from 15m away. Get over yourselves.

Its that sort of selfish attitude that sh!ts me to no end. If you were standing next to me at the p!ss trough and I pissed on you - would you just 'give and take'?????????

If you cared about your partner and family enough then you would understand where I am coming from. Having spent a bit of time in a cancer ward, I have seen what the effects are on others.

Why dont you have a good look and 'get over yourself'

If i stood next to you with a cigarette I'd be a selfish prick. If I walk 15, 20m away from a group to have a smoke what's the problem.

Like I said, some people will do the little cough before I've even lit a cigarette, or upwind of me in a 20knot breeze.

Smoking is a shocker of a habit and I've attempted to give up multiple times but ffs, I'm suprised that some people could even smell cigarette smoke they've got their heads so far up their own arses.

Agree with Knigit. I never had my smoke blow over others so they can jam it.

I agree with the no smoking in cars with kids on baord, but at the same time they passed that law it was also no smoking within 20m of a kids playground. If I stand 5m downwind of everyone what's the harm?

It is a lawful activity and I should be able to smoke anywhere outdoors I like as long as it is downwind and not right next to the doors of a building

before anyone trots out the old "cost to the community with billions of $$$ in health care" - how about a limit to how many burgers you can buy at Maccas? Obesity costs a fortune and Govt places limits on smoking and drinking alcohol

(and yes I am hanging for one now0

I don't have a personal issue if anybody wants to enjoy a puff, however my beef is that I do enjoy a meal alfresco and find that we nonsmokers are forced inside the restuarant while the smokers are free to enjoy the outside. Why can't they hold off puffing after or during a meal so we can all enjoy the alfresco atmosphere?

I was doing a bit of surfing, When I found this,

: The 2003 Australian Burden of Disease Study indicates that tobacco smoking was second behind overweight among the leading causes of burden of disease in Australia. It was estimated that tobacco smoking was responsible for about 8% of the total burden of disease and injury for all Australians (9.5% of total for males and 6.1% of total for females) (AIHW 2006: Begg et al in press).

If tobbacco smoking is only the second highest killer, Shouldn't we be targeting obesity in the same way,
Maybe all chocolate bars should have horrid pics of obese people with rotten teeth on them, ass cheeks hanging over the edges. maybe Fatal heart attack scribed on the top
or change the name to wheeze and cough bars
The government, If serious should just ban cigarettes
Instead of taking kickbacks,
As far as I can see,
If I don't die from a smoking related illness,
I will die from something else,
noone I know has given up and lived forever,
Get A life you useless sheep,

I've said this before on seabreeze, but I'll say it again... I think we should tax salty and sweet things and use the revenue to subsidize Aus fruit and veg.

2.- I also think we should tax alcohol by volume, not cost... the good stuff gets cheaper, the cheap stuff gets more expensive.

But sound ideas in this world have strong head winds.

As the buses cruise past belching diesel smoke, there is a dog poo 5m away and some drunk urinated all over the afresco area at 0300 this morning?

I'd rather be inside the restaurant.

Ummm , last time I heard, any area designated for eating is non smoking. Do you know of a restaurant that allows you to smoke at the table Alfresco. Even as a smoker I won,t light up near any Alfresco areas , when I want a puff , I go for a walk.

Those rules haven't made it to WA yet. You can still smoke at the tables outside pubs where food is served
