i don't mind watching, but i don't run my life around it like some of those blokes in the lb room

frk off ,I got a little into AFL a few years ago but have not watched a game this year,same as rugby.

The players aren't even from the areas the club represents. I find it hard to support a company.

Watching a game that involves peak fitness, strength and skill is about 10000000000 time better than watching The Fattest Loser and Mastercook etc.

Sounds a lot like a few crew have never played the sports or were just crabs when they did.

Best times of my life were winnin footy(afl) and cricket finals.
Still play cricket to this day. Great flat day sport, which i get to play a fair bit of it bein a summer sport.

I fail to see how Sport, in particular footy, is a couch-potato orientated sport...it's pretty hard to kick a footy sitting on the old lazy-boy?

AFL was our invention why not be proud of a game that produces elite athletes that match any other elite athlete in any other chosen sport? Provides opportunity for Communities ....offerss opportunities/hope/ditractions to those less fortunate(inparticular the indigenous communities) if there was no footy what else would they been doing?

And what about the community side of sport in general...have you been to an auskick day? have you seen how many kids and families attend every weekend? This sport you despise so much does more for community moral\and involvement than anyone actually realises...and what if it didn't exist where do these kids/families go or what do thay? become real couch potatoes playing computer games...

yes it is a big business...so is surfing...**** I sat on my couch last night for 4 hours straight watching Brazil...

I love my footy I've played footy for nearly 20 years I'm no couch potato and I'm no brainwashed moron...where does this put me? My biggest gripe is that there is a push to move more games on Pay TV which I refuse to get.

As a side note you might want to watch a recet game once in a while those "near on cock jocks" you refer to are nothing more than running shorts.

Problem is that the masses are so obsessed with sport,that they lose awareness and interest of more meaningful events,as the doc earlier pointed out.

When knowing the playing stats of Eagles players takes precedence over knowing how many parts per million of industrial waste/fluoride is in the tap water,then it's clear the masses are being distracted deliberately by the corporate media that promotes sport in such an overbearing fashion.
