If anybody wants to educate their mind to truly beautiful music, listening to Beethoven's five piano concerti is a good place to start.
He was the "heavy metal music man" of his time.
I was lucky enough to be borne by a mother who played classical music radio and recordings in the house at most opportunities.
Probably few, if any, people who contribute to this forum who could relate to that or the music.
Like most things though, a taste is not usually enough to tell if you like a thing or not. You need to savour and swallow to know if it agrees with you or not.
So here are the five Beethoven Piano Concerti. Listen to them or not. Those that do will be the better for it.
These are particularly good recordings with full video.
No.3 is where it gets dramatic. Keep in mind that Zimerman, the pianist, is playing totally from memory. No music sheets.
And the fantastic 5th. Grabs you by the guts right at the start.
I truly hope the noise of life does not rob you of the time to feast on this great music.
