agreed, also who wants a sterile politically correct forum that has too many rules. killjoys go away. this post was obviously a thinly veiled attempt at removing thumbs

We have heard Mark's plight before but personally like the thumbs.
Perhaps we need a thumb register under the xxxx Posts to indicate popularity!!(ie. number of people who read and felt compelled enough to vote).
That might slow the unjustified red thumbers down.

A simple solution is to have a threshold of two thumbs per green bar.. That stops lazy thumbers who can't contribute with a sentence..

So it takes two thumbs to make a green bar, 4 to make two green bars and so on..

I mean it's pretty pathetic when there is a post with just one red thumb, it's hardly worth displaying.. But two thumbs, now that's a consensus!..

Yeah but,
when he paints his hand yellow with red pok-a-dots and is thinking of me while he is "hitting it" is way gross.

I feel so violated

He didnt even buy me a beer first.

Seabreeze is way overmoderated (or at least the threat of it exists more pervasively than on other fora).

All the best/biggest/most influential fora have one thing in common - very, very little moderation, if any.

It might be before your time, but news groups have been around for a while, and the unmoderated ones would start out okay until some crazies would move in and own the group and discourage any sort of useful discussion. Eventually anyone interesting ends up not contributing and it becomes an entire group of crazies.

I suspect that a lot of the forums that you think are unmoderated are really moderated, but so well that you don't notice.

^^^ roger that F.N

rec.windsurfing was around for years and one fella pretty much destroyed in singlehandedly.

I frequent fora for other hobbies (predominantly Yank ones, and yes they have no sense of humour hahaha) but the best are ones where people are regularly banned for sh!tstirring .... and I mean after 3 posts not hundreds.
