A previous post got me thinking about my pet hate when it comes to driving.

What I really hate is : Inconsiderate drivers who refuse to do the speed limit, yet wont move over to the slower left lane.

Anyone else have things that annoy them on the road?

sorry Pat, thats me. for fuel economy I wont accelerate the Landcruiser hard and cruise at a few k's below the limit. Damn inconsiderate drivers wont let me in to turn right even when I indicate so I just move over into the right lane when I can and pootle along till my turn. I hate the ones who toot and gesticulate rudely.

What is the attraction to the right lane anyway?
Eventually most people turn left, but they just have
to stay in the right lane until the last second.
As for the No Knowledgers that weave from lane to lane without
indicating, where are the coppers when you need them?
Sometimes I wish i had a real badge so i could sticker their car
and fine em..

hate is a powerfull force, when directing it at another individual one should consider what does it do to the self.

I think it's because a lot of people are scared of changing lanes, so they just sit in the right hand land instead of having to overtake slower cars. I have seen it on the F3 in Sydney where people will go from 80km/h to 130 km/h just to avoid changing lanes.

The thing that's annoying is that they are probably quite relaxed. At least until they run up the backside of the car in front...

My pet hate:
Clowns who come screaming along in the right hand lane of the freeway and then pull hard left on the steering wheel, crossing three lanes in approx 100metres to take the left hand exit.
For **** sake, think about where you are going and start moving into the correct lane at least 1k before the exit.

Mobile phone users. That call is sooooo f%&^%king important.....I've seen people texting ffs
Can't believe that people still do this.

Another pet hate of mine is those jap import pocket rockets. You know the ones.Like in tokyo drift and such movies. They should all be crushed.

It also amazes me how the majority of bad drivers i've seen speeding , swapping lanes , tailgating and driving aggressively , seem to be driving sh1tbox undercoat grey commodores with mags and badboy stickers grrrrr Should be crushed as well....

The thing that makes me smile the most:
To see clowns rip past you at 10 or 20+ kms above the speed limit, only to have you pull up next to them at the next set of traffic lights

same goes for the guys who risk life and limb to pass 20 cars in one go on some hilly section of highway, only to see them in the next petrol station filling up ... again.

I do a lot of driving for work and drive a van where you can see a lot more from the height. It amazes me..

no of people who don't wear seat belts,
talk on mobile phones,
unrestrained kids in the back...

As for staying in the right lane.. occasionally we need to get somewhere in a hurry and well travel in the right lane (with lights and sirens) and people won't get out of our way because they don't want to miss their right hand turn.. GRRRRRRRR

You forgot the bit where it then goes back to a single lane, they have stopped you passing, and then they slow back down again :)

Personally I think its a psychological thing in that they see two lanes and go 'it must be safer to drive faster', and when it goes back to one it's 'oooh, I'm scared, I had better slow down'.

Then again they could just be b@5tards that don't want you to overtake!

I hate the pricks that sit at a green arrow, dont go, then just as it changes they see it , go, leaving everyone behind them stuck. AND the pricks that stop at an intersection, you pull up behind them, then when the light turns green, they put their indicator on to turn right trapping you and all behind you. Kill them all !!!

I have no problems with bad drivers, I just hate them all with a passion

Then again on Sunday arvo I heard what I thought was a super bike coming up the hill past my daughters school. The sound was unreal, like a snarl. It turned into our street.
Then I heard whatever this thing was just go into F1 mode. I rushed out from the garage to see a red blur (Ferrari F40 I think) just scream along whats usually a very quiet beachside suburb road. I only heard him change gear once so Im assuming he was in second gear when he had reached brake time and I reckon he was doing about 160 kmh?????
Now Im no hoon (drive Commodore windsurf wagon) but bloody hell this was freaking awesome. Wouldnt you love to be able to have a go at something like that??
Dont get me wrong, I have kids and hate speeding drivers in suburbia but on a drag strip or race track, **** how much of a buzz would that be.

Roundabouts - why do people stop or slow right down approaching a roundabout when it's bleeding obvious there's no-one coming, or they could slot in nicely if they just kept going. Everyone should go to Port Moresby for roundabout training - over there if there's a gap roughly the same size as your vehicle just floor it and fill that gap, works a treat, traffic keeps flowing.
And all the Tassie wallies who think indicators are to inform people that they are half way around a turn off.
Ahh, that's better, good therapy this topic.

Roundabouts **** me the most ,

tards who sit there with there RH indicater on the drive straight through and when they are about 3/4 of the way thru they indicate LH , they bloodywell might as not indicate at all who the F knows where they are going.

then theres the ppl in the outside lane of the RB the all of a sudden they decide that they wanna go right instead of going straight thru and just cut infront of u , sometimes i wish ide just hit the idiots so they will learn the lesson but its not worth the trouble

Yep retards who dont know what they are doing
your correct about the right hand indicator, only use it if you are turning right, but you ARE SUPPOSED TO indicate left between the last left hand exit and the left hand exit you are going out of, even it that is straight ahead of where you entered.

Big thanks to the legends(mostly truckies) who MOVE to the overtaking lane so you can pull out an merge with the traffic. doesnt happen much ...but a blessing when its the first day of school holidays and every metro's going down the coast.

The other day some nice person flashed their lights when changing lanes to get out of my way, when I wanted to turn into the traffic.
Earned a wave and big thumbs up from me.
When people do the right thing, it's good to say thanks and give them some encouragement, there's little enough of it on our roads.

Here's another anomaly over here, a single right turn lane feeds into a 2 lane road, there's also a left turn lane on the opposite side feeding into the same 2 lanes. It used to be that the right turn lane went into the outside lane, the left turn went into the inside lane. Both lanes acn them turn, try that now and you risk a crash, people turning right go straight to the inside lane, with no regard to people turning left.
It used to be illegal to jump lanes when turning, but you see it all the time now.
People turning left going straight into the overtaking lane, people turning right going straight into the inside lane. So has the rule changed? Or is it just more bad driving?
