Proper cider smells like d i c k cheese and should be dry as a nuns nasty. I'm trying to source some from Spain and some crafty stuff from the states at present.
This lolly water crap that is produced in Oz and from concentrate in Sweeden etc is fit only for girls and pillow biters.
Try biting into a real cider apple and you'll understand why crap Aussie cider tastes the way it does, thankfully there is a select few orchardists grafting over dessert trees to traditional varieties of late.
The cider revolution has only just begun.....

Smicko the to two meters tall ciders are a good drop, I like the pear cider. Was very sour like a good lambic beer. Will vary from batch to batch as stated on the label (check it out!).
They also do a dark ale made with apples (good drop also).
Have you tried any of the Henry of Harcourt ciders? Well worth a look, also made in the traditional way with proper cider apples.
