Hi all great discussion.

I live in the Blue Mtns and am a very keen kite buggy nut, I have been slapped with a ban by the local council for kite buggying on local sportsfields.

At present am only allowed to static fly, but hopefully this will change soon.
Am awaiting the new administration to settle in after local elections .

Then I wil start writing letters again, is funny with local government how they are a law unto themselves, and never respond to letters.

Have taken pics of signage at sportsfields

Have spotted RC plane flyers on sportsfields as well as golfers practicing

Any more information would be appreciated.

Kite Buggy....that sounds like a lot of fun. How fast can you go I imagine it would make little or no noise. Sounds like the council cannot fit your choice of craft into a known existing category so they are soiling themselves regarding possible public liability issues.
The ironic thing is, over here in WA, the councils seem to have no objection to kids riding scooters (scooter kids) at skate parks.
The best way to describe the majority of scooter riders (apart from the real little kids typically under the supervision of parent/guardian) is that their parents don't truly love them, otherwise they would have bought them a bicycle. They are like plague rats and will harass other park users for money/smokes/crack or just plain bully other kids at the park. Way to stereotype I know but the majority seem to be anti-social little pricks with names like Jaiyden, Chryzstofer or Braden.

It is because of compulsory voting. Those that dont work, those that are on benefits, those that do work but are brain washed unionist/socialists and those that want to run others lives that vote for left leaning parties including the Labor Party. They have themselves to blame because the Labour Party philosophically wants to intervene with laws and then run corrupt closed shops with their bully boys.

If all the poor souls that have been forced to wear Hi Vis new a little history and literature they would understand the symbolic nature of their prison uniform that they wear.

HEY LOGGY!! You're not going to let him get away with telling the truth like that are you????

Hey old4dy! Preferably don't use RC plane flyers in your argument to get access to the playing fields for your kite buggies.
It might be that you do sometimes see RC planes etc but they are also not allowed. If you mention that they are using the fields they wont change the rules to make it allowable, they will just be more diligent in their removal.

If you mention that they are using the fields they wont change the rules to make all those things allowable. Not RC planes, not golfers and not kite buggies.
I know it doesn't seem fair but you need to fight your case on your own merits, not lever your argument on other users.

If there are no signs and no law regarding the bugging i would just keep doing it..... When they ask you to stop politely pack up but just come back another day.... If they play hardball ask for them to show you evidence that it is not allowed....

I'm assuming that the kids and I shouldnt have been down the park with barebows and target arrows last week then. we had to pack up when somebody just walked onto the park with thier dog just behind our target and started throwing a stick

Good point. I am going to lie in the bushes and shoot cans 400m away with my sniper rifle.
As long as nobody is around huh.

Landyacht - the point is that you stopped when somebody arrived. You are one of the thoughtful ones.

I strongly suspect this fee charged by the council is because a very regular group did not stop.

Now, thanks to media pressure making the council reconsider the frisbee ban, we can look forward to "hammer throw practice" on every Thursday 20m from the playground, legalisation of masturbating as the ladies aerobics class is on, and maybe even - if we are lucky - javelin practice whilst the footy game is on. Because the area is for ALL so hey fk it, do what you want and the council are all tossers.

Have fun.

Hey Reef take that spud cannon off your son and trash it.

My 2nd son was a victim of a misfire with a spud cannon

and now he has a titanium skull plus he is minus one eye.

They are very dangerous so please trash it.

I was stuck in Alice Springs a couple of days ago, got woken up by several big booms.

Kids in the park across the road were letting rip with fireworks!

Wandered over to the fenceline to watch, grubby little urchins were having a great time, the kids told me they had found them in thier dads shed (while looking for where dad hides his smokes) and had decided to test the fireworks to see if they were still OK.

aint nothing as good for your soul as seeing kids with black powder stains and huge grins on thier faces!

Maybe there is hope for this country yet

our rifle range has the occaisional problem of trailbike riders cutting the boundary fence, or taking gates off hinges to get access to our range- often while shooting is in progress.
We have even had families unbolt gates so they could have picnics at the back of the range- inside the safety zone!
red flags up and "danger shooting in progress" signs, and the noise of threeohs booming away as a deterrent.

the trailbikes like using the stopbutts (big pile of dirt the bullets go into) as a ramp for thier bikes while we are shooting.

ferchrissakes fellas, do you have any idea how hard it is to dig a hole big enough for a tail bike and its rider through hard packed gravel- or the paperwork it can cause
