Horrific security legislation, The Foreign Fighters Bill, is rushing through federal parliament right now. The case for this legislation has not been made. A supine ALP will not oppose this legislation. What can be done about it? I don't know as we live in a representative democracy, ie we get a vote every few years and then our rep goes off to follow the party line.

This Foreign Fighters legislation is awful. Its on the level of the Enabling Bill of 1933 of the German Republic that granted the Chancellor, Adolf Hitler, to do whatever he liked. That bill was passed also because of the threat of 'terrorism'.


The saying you have nothing to fear if you have done nothing wrong doesn't cut. There is it notion of being innocent until proven guilty. Police have been known to make mistakes.
