Come along to Kyeemagh on Botany Bay this wk end for the inaugural Windsurfing NSW GPS/Slalom Freerace event. The first of four potential race meets this season, our first race will commence not before 1.30pm on either Saturday or Sunday (forecast dependant) with the call made on Thursday after 5pm.
Freeracing is an evolutionary discipline proposed by Ian Fox from Starboard, as the basis of an ongoing national championship in Australia. Turn up with what ever gear you have, a GPS unit, we’ll set a boxed course on the bay to suit the conditions, collect your GPS files at the end of the day and collate the results. They’ll be a winner on the day and a Series overall Champion, with prizes kindly donated by the generous folks at Windsurf n Snow.
We hope to run a couple of 1/2hr long sessions, as opposed to the traditional one hour long category, with the winner based on the best average overall scores as per KA72.com & GPS Team Challenge criteria across the 6 categories of; 2 sec peak, 5x10 sec Average, 1/2hr, Alpha Racing 500mt, Nautical Mile and Distance travelled.
The minimum condition for racing will be 14 knots on the course area from 1 minute before the start until the duration of the heat.
Join your local windsurfing club for your AWA Public Liability insurance and the event entry fee is just $20 on the day, or pay for all 4 events online at,
