Got to downwind the 12'6 x 27 NSP/DC today in 25-30kt winds. There was a lot of west in the wind and swell today and I was glad to have the extra width in the 27" version. I reckon downwinding 12'6 boards is very uderated as they surf the swells so effortlessly and, IMHO I find, very easy to paddle across the wind. Add to that the increased acceleration of a smaller lighter board to get into the runners and less movement to keep the nose above water equals a recipe for fun. That said I am hanging out for my new 14'er to arrive.
Here are a few pics taken from the Glenelg Jetty, the pics don't do the swell justice, I'll try and work on a go pro. haha.
For anyone interested in SA and finding people to paddle with, we have plenty of pics and info on our FaceBook page: SA SUP Crew. Hope your all getting some waves!
