McT 8 ball or UF8
For those of you who may have either one of these do they go as stated " good off the tail & some noseriding ability" , Are they more a point board, are they ok on beachies. I'm thinking of getting one around 8'-8'6" for the small summer Sydney stuff. I've been at this surfing caper for 50yrs & still go ok but, due to number of other boards gotta watch where the $$ is going. Thanks

Walden Mega Magic, opinions?
Hi guys.

Currently running a 9ft 3 Mc Fireball Evo. Love the board but need something that is easier to travel with.

Was eying off a 7'4 Walden Mega Magic, has anyone ridden one, what are they like please?

Does anyone have any other suggestions for shorter mals, that are more travel friendly.

Weight 83KG
Height 6ft
Skill: Intermediate....

Thanks

Odds and Ends
Starting to understand why boards are shaped the way they are and what makes them perform the way they do. I have a board that I feel quite confident on steep takeoffs with as it picks up a lot of speed while still being stable and it has really good speed out of a bottom turn and is quite manoeverable.

Have been told that is because it has some rocker in the tail, when I checked it out, bugger me there is a bit of rocker. It made sense.

This morning I took out the bargain board I mentioned on a previous thread. This board has a flat tail and quite rolled rails. What a pain in the ass! I have surfed it in fat waves before and it felt okay but it is definately no beach break board. I had very little speed on the turns, it was actually difficult to turn on the steeper ones I took. As I have been told my board was designed for mushy point break type of surf now I now for sure!

I guess you can read everything you want on shaping a board but feeling the difference under your feet is unbelievable and you never forget that.

Expanding the quiver
My bride is so excited about me getting rid of all my buggy junk, she's given me permission to buy another sled provided it's under a grand.

My problem is I can't decide on what to buy and my choices are limited because I made a decision over a year ago that I would only ever buy tuflites from now on.

I was seriously considering this Rich Harbour San o

It's a really nice classic template and a well sorted design, I also like the colour, it reminds me of a dirty big Licorice allsort.

Plus the price is right.

But I decided to give it a miss because I already have a good 10 foot board and I want something different, plus I already have a good 9'6" board.

There was a secondhand Mickey Munzo 10'6" ultra glide at a shop in Bondi that was really different but I was only prepared to pay 900 for that and they weren't interested. There's also a 9'3" model that I could be interested in if I found one at the right price.

This is quite a new experience for me, actually being given permission from the boss to buy a board rather than sneaking around behind her back.
