Read a interesting article from the Peter Hart's web site on SUP's for light wind wave sailing.

Been thinking about getting one for a while now and I must say after reading the article I'm convinced that it will open a whole other world of sailing / wave riding between too windy for surfing and not enough wind for a regular wave board. Well worth a read....


Any recommendations on which board will suit?

Today we had great DW conditions but I had no one to play with so I did something I've been wanting to do for ages.. Windsurfing a SUP board.. I often get asked about just how well these SUP boards work with a sail and I've only sailed them in very light non-planing conditions.

I'd been told may times that they don't really plane.. I though how frustrating would that be in a good wind.. The 12' Glide sure looks like it should go well.. I haven't windsurfed for ages and was a bit worried about how I'd go and it just came back to me.. Just like riding a bicycle.. .. I guess you never forget.

I dusted off my old gear and I was pretty shaky at first.. The main problem was getting used to no foot-straps but it soon started to feel ok.. I never slipped once and I didn't want to fall into that cold water even with a wettie on.

I'm looking for a bigger wave board and would like some input from others.

I 90 kg (all muscle ofcourse) and i currently sail a 80l exocet which works fine when its windy. However, in sub 20 knots its just not floaty enough.

I was thinking that I should go for a 90l or maybe even a 95l board but still not sure of how big to go.

any hints or tips would be appreciated

Would be great to see some weird and wacky relics from the past down there in the morning and around lunch. Also a chance for a test ride of some Kona One demo boards (ducktail). If it's windy then go for freestyle, speed, waves after lunch.

On a separate note - what dusty old longboards do you have at your place - would be interesting to hear what vic sailors have got at home... (including shiny new SUPs etc)

how awesome was this weekend. had two of the best sails of my life. loved seeing everyone shreading up third ramp! what a blast!!!! cant wait to see the footage and photos. MASSIVE THANKS TO ONBOARD AND EVERYBODY WHO HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE BEST EASTER EVER. SOOOOOOO MUCH FUN!
