Joining AKSA? It's the time of year for it
I've never posted b4, but i want to know why people join AKSA. I've been kiting for a while, and it seems like if you live in a big city its a good idea because theres insurance and the beaches are crowded. I live in NSW but not in the city and I don't want to bitch about AKSA but it seems wierd that plenty of people pay their $60 each year for what? I joined last year, but i don't want to do it this year but i am getting emails from AKSA as if it is just natural that I shoudl join.

I heard a guy the other day talking about maroubra in sydney, about how AKSA had been negotiating badly for access to the beach, and it made me think about how all the spots are policed and wether aksa is even good for keeping access.

I had a look on their website (Aksa) and I can't see where the money goes, even if you do pay it. I looked at the insurance policy but couldnt really understand what it covered, and also I can't see how much of the aksa fee goes into insurance. I get nervous when theres just an organisation that demands money without saying what it does. ANd after hearing about the story of maroubra Im not even sure I want to be part of it because it might just threaten my access to places more through regulation and bad relationships wiht people like clubbies and councils

So my question is, how many people DONT join aksa, and should I even bother?
