Wave sailing Vietnam
Back from two weeks in Nam and one week of sailing. I stayed at Mui Ne which is half day by sleeper bus or train or under 3 hours by car. Recommend hiring a car and driver. Doesnt cost much $70 including driver and fuel for 7 seater newish thing. Not worth trying to drive in insane Vietnam traffic.

Would not recommend taking your own gear unless staying for quite a while as they don't know what roof racks are, and think u r a kiter.

Now what about the sailing?

The monsoon was was late finishing. I turned up in late December. Normally windy by then but only just started up when I got there.

MUI NE; Water was clean and the only pollution was a few styro food containers.

I used big gear. The wind was cross shore. Bit of a shore dump but not bad. Wind was light - I was using 6 - 7 metres but still could get loops off the chop. It seemed like it would get windier when the trades kicked in properly - 5 metre stuff good enough for looping.

Gear was ok at Windsurf resort. Really was less than 2 years old. There was one crappy boom but rest was ok. They had plenty of smaller gear and it seemed likely It was genuine bump and jump when windy based on what they had.
