Ocean Addicts is really bummed that Andy tore his kite. We know how much he loves his kiting and we also know he looks after his gear meticulously.
Unfortunately one look at the tear in question and it was clearly obvious that the LE had come in contact with a sharp object. It had a clean knife like slice about 3cm long which you can see in the first picture.
The LE bladder then popped through at this point and opened up the rest of the rip. You can see the frayed edges. The LE stitching is what stopped the tear from spreading any further.
Please note no LE seams have come apart. This is a clear tear in the Dacron that has started from a small slice from a foreign object.
Further more the LE has a couple more slices on it on the opposite side around the same area. See 2nd photo. Again clearly this kite has come into contact with something sharp.
We have replaced the LE bladder and repaired to as new with no extra cost or profit to the store out of good will.
Again we are really sorry that Andy has damaged his kite but we simply cant warranty things that are not manufacturing defaults.
Its just like buying a new car and crashing it and expect the headlight that you broke to be a warranty issue of fixed under good will. We all have things happen and it is just an unfortunate circumstance.
5cm sharp cut that the bladder blew out from.
Another rip in the leading edge. This one is on the other side of the kite but in the same location as the blow out.
