New Jimmy Lewis Models
Hi All,

Jimmy has a couple of new models coming out later in the year for people who like SUPing in a bit of juice.

They will join the 12'0" Bombora Gun for chasing serious waves.

There is the 'Son of Bombora' (10'6") and the 'Baby Bomb' (10'0").

They will be able to be set up as a thruster or a quad.

Have included a couple of pics of one of the Baby Bomb proto's on land and being tested in the water.

Cheers,

Courts

My new 9'2"
I have just built myself a 9' 2" gun. Between AKU shaper and with some great input from DTM it came out pretty much how I pictured it. The final dimentions are:

9'2" x 27" x 4 1/2" thick. Volume was 116 liters before finishing and as I took a fair bit of foam out of the rails I am guessing the final volume is closer to 110-112. The board is designed for waves in the head high to 3 x times overhead range and more powerful reef break type conditions.

From the pics you will see that I moved the fins from their original position - which was way too far back and made the thing surf off the last couple of feet of rocker giving it very little drive. I moved all three of them almost 5 inches forward and it was a completely different board.

The first thing I notice riding it in head high waves is the way you can draw out a turn when necessary - but it can carve a very tight arc when required by planting the back foot - much more easily than my 8'9". The reduced area in the tail and very fine rails (at the tail) make it feel so responsive!! It also has a generous rocker. I need to test it in some good size stuff to really get the feel of it but so far so good.

Stability wise it is a bit wobbly at times with my 82 kegs on it, however she paddles very quickly so should be good for getting into em - which was the reason for keeping a bit of volume in her.

I tried to make it really strong and used 2x6 oz bottom with 2 x 6oz deck and a 4oz patch for 3/4 of the deck. There are now 6 plugs in it and even with a deck grip it still came in under 8kegs so I might have to chuck some lead weights on her for the really big stuff.

She should be a good Nor west WA board for our june trip I hope! A bigs thanks to DTM for his injput and the use of his mates shaping bay - and getting the foam sorted!!

Here are some dodgy pics:
