I used to use a 5m for all conditions. Now switched to a 4.5m. Im 100kgs. I think you'll manage with either. 4.5m gets me 12-35+ knots of range.

with the same front wing?

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I wing on a floater board, planning to use 3 and 3.5 in Cabarete, it gets pretty windy there at times, peaking at 25+ knots

My idea is to go as small as possible on the inflatable wing size so I ride a 1300 sq cm front foil wing in any condition. For reference, I can easily fly 3.5m wing in 17 knots, so i wonder if 3m would cover the 22+ knots range or I should rather get a 2.5m
Thanks

Got 5.5 / 4.5 / 3.5 / 3.0. Wondering if 3.0 and 3.5 is too close, doing the same job basically.

chatgpt did the math :

- 3.5 -> 3.0 = only ~2 kt difference
- 3.5 -> 2.5 = ~4-5 kt difference

2 kt is less than gusts on any normal day, so it feels redundant. 3.5 + 2.5 would actually cover different wind range?

Counter argument: at low wind tight gaps make sense (underpowered = no foil, you sink). At high wind underpowered just means less fun, still riding. So maybe 3.0+3.5 is not worth it?

Does anyone actually feel a difference between 3.0 and 3.5 on water? Should I sell the 3.0 and get 2.5 for storm days?

thanks

Yea, try aggressively pushing the boom to the outside of your turn with your back hand, later in the turn. Its awkward because your angles are leaning into the turn and you are pushing out of the turn with your hand - but it generally works. Some older wings really didn't like to tack well, but I find most of the wings I've tried in the last couple of years come around pretty naturally once you figure out their nuanceds.

Makes sense thanks.

Some wings are definitely harder than others to tack. I've come across a few that I couldn't tack. Not saying that's the issue with yours but definitely validating the weirdness factor for ya.

This is good to know, thanks

have tried using your backand more to make it switch side?
If you look at that old video, you will see how the best riders were tacking back then. Look at Malo for the back hand.

Will try this, thanks

Some wings have a size that flies different. The duotone slick 5m was like that but the 4 and 6 tacked no problem I traded the 5m SLS for a D-lab and it was a bit better but I know what you are feeling.

Interesting, thanks

Are you talking about the v1 or v2? I've got the 6m NXT v2 and never had issues with tacks or gybes.

i have v1, not sure how different it is from v2, thanks for the feedback .

Hey all, this might be a long shot but I'm curious if anyone has seen this.

I just got a new Slingwing NXT and I'm really struggling with tacks. The wing just doesn't want to move across to the new side of the wind window. It kind of "sticks" and won't switch over no matter what I do.

I've tried holding the back hand longer, pushing it across more aggressively, still the same thing.

When gybing I can make it switch, but only if I physically push the leading edge out to force it over.

What's weird is I never had this issue on other wings like F-One Strike or Cabrinha Mantis - those felt super natural in transitions.

So now I'm wondering if this is something specific to the Slingwing NXT, or maybe something to do with the Aluula frame being stiffer? Or maybe it's just me and I need to adjust something. Anyone else experienced this or have tips?
