I am sorry if this was discussed already (couldn't find a thread titles as such). I was wondering if anybody has some real work feedback in using a waist belt to hold both the wing at the board leashes.
This waist leash foilboardcompany.com/board-waist-leash/ has multiple attachment for both board and wing. Although no manufacturer advertises to use the same belt for both leashes.
So far I had wrist leash for wing and waist for board. However as I am progressing with tacks and Heineken jibe, the wrist leash is really uncomfortable.
Thanks a lot
I tried it today. I didn't like it, the wing leash got more in my way than when it was on my wrist. I put my wing leash back on my wrist half way through the session
Completely a matter of preference. I've tried every combination and I swear by wing leash to my waist and board leash to my ankle.
when board leash goes to my waist it always winds up winding around my thigh or going between my legs.
when both leashes go to the waist they seem much more prone to getting tangled.
try out all the options and figure out what works for you.

I've seen pics of people using an ankle leash. How do they not step on the leash - unless they never switch stance?

Needs to be CALF leash and shortish. 5 to 6 ft. Then you never step on it.
yep...go watch some of Jeff Howard's (kiteboarding.com) videos on leashes, harnesses and attachment/release mechanisms (and check out their shop online)...he's pretty into that topic and has some nice solutions (including the ozone quick release which is pretty handy, along with the stoppered pigtails).
Personally I really hate leashes, but of the options available I'm currently liking both board and wing attached to a very simple waist belt...still fiddling with different attachment/release methods and actual leashes, but I hate coils and am preferring bungies for both wing and board...
I use wing leash to waist, which is way better than wrist and a calf cuff board leash. No tangling, no treading on stuff.
It's matter of taste, some people like it, some people not, but never use two coil leashes attached to belt: untangling them while swimming is not fun.
I liked it, until I was in the surf and somehow the leash buckle broke. I lost both my board and my wing in a split second. Board washed up on shore with a few foil scratches and wing cartwheeled for a 1/2 mile down the beach before someone caught it.
I use both on waist belt both on quick release using a kite short leash on the wing.
never had a tangle but want to be s as bad to release easily if I did ever get rolled in waves show it on a video I did last Jan
I leash both to my waist. I have a long coil leash for my board and ~4-5ft bungee leash for the wing. like anything, you have to learn how to use it so you don't get the leashes/legs tangled. I switched boards w/ my buddy who uses a calf leash the other day and it was really screwing with me.... he said the same thing about my setup.
I like the wing to waist, so I can paddle and have my arms free... also I've had the wing rip out of my hands in weird falls when having the wing pull on my shoulder at weird angles was not comfortable... same thing with crashing and having a board pull on my leg.
Ideally I would ditch the board leash and just have a wing leash, but our conditions here make it. not that advisable.
I have both on my waist.wish I didn't have any leashes at all. They don't tangle but I kneel on them when starting that can be annoying. Like to have both arms free so I can paddle.
I have both to my waist. I use a creatures of leisure coil waist leash belt for the board then just thread the hand wing leash through that.
Personally hate the ankle/calf leashes as always end up standing on it. And like being able to paddle without the wing attached to my arm. Also had the wing ripped out of my hands before causing a good yank to the shoulder when its on your wrist.
Leashes need a Game Changer. Favour both on waist, other prefer different. I lengthened wing leash by 40-50cm to make easier to flip wing, with unintended benefits it stays out of way when flying and foil doesn't stab wing as flies further away. I have two boards and coiled leashes, the shorter one has to be positioned before I kneel on board. If short leash I found ankle is best.
