Has anybody been wingfoiling at Sri Lanka? I might go there in a few weeks. Kalpitiya seems the place to be, but i only see pictures of flat water there. The surf spots in the south must be great but looks like there's not much wind.
Was there last year. Short answer: If you visit the island and want to add a stop for Wingfoiling -> Go for it. The wind is pretty good and the people are lovely (we stayed at the Da Silva Resort, can recommend).
I would probably not go just for wingfoiling. For that, there are better places. The water is very shallow in many spots and I got caught in random fishing nets a few times. Rental gear for advanced riders is very limited (smallest board they could give me was 60L and that was the "bosses" board which they only gave me very reluctantly. Smallest foil was like a 1000).
If you are a beginner / learning -> Maybe i can recommend it more. With a short mast you can ride comfortably and profit from the constant wind and flat water.
On the open ocean there were some nice waves but they did not let us go there with the rental gear. If I had my own gear with me I would definitely have gone out in the south were the waves are. We saw some spots that looked like amazing wing/PW foil spots.
