Today at Green Point I got to use my new foil.. The new S26 Naish HA 2140.. Wow.. A big-boy early lift foil with great top end and no draggy feel.

Did I catch glimpses of 5.3 on that wing DJ? There didn't seem to be many whitecaps? Can it be true!

Yes.. It was pretty light and I should have had at least my 6m up but we were expecting the wind to increase.. It was typical Melbourne weather with a bit of sun.. a bit of cloud.. and a bit of rain along with a 10 deg drop in temp as the change hit.. Packing up in the rain is never much fun.. but the new foil was awesome..

Using the 2140 can also allow you to get away with a much smaller wing. I have ridden Pittwater in very light conditions on the 3.6m with the 2140. Absolutely smokes upwind, and really fun DW. Anyone else would have been struggling on a 6m and different foil.

The 2140 has a pretty amazing top speed considering its amazing bottom end. And you can cant over to windward and smoke upwind even in light air.

The weather report predicted 9 to 14 Kts, but it was incorrect for my first use on 2140; I had solid 20Kts. I was over foiled and over-winged, thankfully had my harness, and I just kept going upwind and trying to freeride back in the San Francisco Bay. I just had to put my 5m wing out, and I was up on the foil. I did some freerides with one hand holding the wing, and I had a few rides just gliding/pumping, which was awesome! Freeriding is a skill I am working on, and it was my best session yet. Most of the time, I hold the wing with two hands going downwind to help balance get some power to ride the waves. I never go that far, letting the wing park and only ride the current.

I think the 2140 foil will help to get the freeride skill and with learning SUP foiling. I am now using a Hover 95, but I keep my Hover 7'6" 135L, and Hover 5'10" 110L to learn SUP foiling.
