Interesting interview and vision.
To me, seems like Alan's fuse is quite long, yet, he manages tight radius turns.

Also Mike's lab front wing seems well forward of mast, windfoil style. Of course Alan has years of windsurf experience which may have influenced his set up.

Love that whole area and will be holed up there for next couple of weeks. Hoping to score some foil, sup and surf sessions with friends around Oahu.
Aa hui hou!

I really liked seeing Alan's approach to gybing on the wave face. Seems like 90% of his gybes were the Heineken variety. Makes a lot of sense, opening up full visibility for the turn and avoids backwinding on fast foils. Also allows that full sheet in power right before depowering, versus the standard handoff to leading edge handle. He seems to stall the hand switch at times to at the end of the transition so that the wing is flat and over his shoulder going downwind (hand on front strut handle). I will be trying this for sure. I've typically only used the Heineken on flat water zones.
