Been reading along for a couple of weeks now and decided to chime in. I recently got a complete North set, comprised of the nova pro in 4.2 and 6.0, seek 5'0 88l and an alu 85 sonar with a MAv2 1200. As a 183cm 90kg rider it's been great so far I've got in 4 flat water sessions in the last month due to my busy schedule but the gear is very friendly and performs great IMO.
I've taken a hiatus from winging since August of last year due to work and I ended being able to consistently jibe and steadily tack over one side, the other side still hit or miss. No jumping so far. The second session back i was tacking and even managed a switch stance tack which I couldn't do before. The MAv2 1200 does force me to become better at pumping the board, but is very rewarding if you do get it right. At the low end I could get it up easily in 17kts with the 4.2. Haven't tried the 6.0 yet. Furthermore it has a lot more glide, speed and manoeuvrability than my previous foil (starboard E-Type 1500).
I can't attest to how the smaller sizes would fit someone of my skill and weight(and lack of cardio), but the 1200 has been nothing but great so far!
1200 has been my go-to foil for a long run. I had lots of fun with that one, I came from the first gen 1650 and that MA1200 was so much better in every aspect.
After I sized down in board (78L is my only board currently) I also sized down in front wing. My go-to FW is now a MA1050 with S210. Soon that will be replaced by the MA1050v2.
When the wind reaches 20knots or up, I switch to my MA850V2 and S208. Also a very nice combo, feels looser and faster. Both is so much fun!
I don't touch any other foils, just the MA SERIES.
