Does anyone know what the difference is between these two stabilizers ? Both Fanatic. Both same size, one is 215, the other 216. The one with red on it is for the Aero Free 800 front wing if u use it for winging. The other is for the Fanatic Flow series of front wings and Aero Free 800 for windfoiling . Again , I'm was wondering how they differ in terms of performance characteristics and feel ? Also wondering if swapping their intended use, ie use the one specified for winging for windfoiling and vice versa would work and what the difference in performance and feel would be ?
Im gonna try this at some stage. Wondering if others have any thoughts and or experience ?
Sorry I missed this before. The 216 is pretty flat without shimming. I measured 0.8 down. If you like a loose feel then this is your guy. The 215 is closer to 1.8 down and so feels more stable. But I've nicked myself on those points too many times and I won't use it. My go to is the 250 for wing, even with the 1000 free front. If you're learning with the Flow try either the 300 or the 250. Both are about 1.8 down. I really like the 300 with the Flow 1500 when working on transitions in flat water. A bit too locked for swell riding.

Yeah right. So the 1.5 down of the 215 gives more downward pressure on the stab than the 0.8 of the 216 ( I assume we're talking degrees of angle ) which stiffens up pitch and roll ?
I wonder if this is effectively the same as going up in stabilizer size without an increase in area (going from 216 - 215 and obviously ignoring the 1cm difference in size between them)
Also, is it just me or does the 216 look quite a bit bigger in area than the 215 ? Especially on the over head photo.
Read more camber, chord and angle give more lift and more drag, and curved tips gives straight line stability. Designers match stabs to foil to give even front foot pressure over speeds, and behaviour wanted i.e. do you want response for waves or stability for learning and speed? Brands quote actual area and projected area so in photos the 215 looks a lot smaller than 216 and numbers are actual rather than photographed projected areas
