As much as I am happy about any initiative promoting Windsurfing, I am also confused about it.
How does this complement the WWA?

I'm currently not a member of the WWA, but was considering it so I can join the Cervantes fun.
This sounds like fun too, so would I need to pay two memberships?

Can we please keep WWA out of this thread as this is about the new state based association focussed purely on the fastest growing one design sailing class in the world and the WA 2021 State Titles at MBSC.

WCAWA is for the WA Windsurfer Class and is a not for profit staffed by volunteers for the benefit of the Windsurfer Class in WA. Many plans beyond the States are being formulated for alternative series eg MidWinters, Bridge to Bridge race, events at other locations in the state and to continue to promote and develop the already top racing and fantastic fun that this class brings to so many within Western Australia. We want to focus on the class just as other successful classes like Moths, Sharpies and similar have done.

WCAA is the national body and I understand is affiliated with AWA. The state rep of WCAA in WA is also a member of WCAWA once he registers for the 2021 WA State Championship. There are no fees for the state body WCAWA if you register for the States.

You get AWA membership and TPL insurance from WCAA when you pay a fee for the membership plus insurance. WCAA is affiliated with AWA just as WWA is or I believe is. There are fees for this from WCAA and the TPL insurance works for all windsurfing not just Windsurfer Class. This is the same as WWA to this extent. WCAWA is however not presently in the insurance business which members get via WCAA.

Many of us are members of yacht clubs (Australian Sailing insurance programme (not TPL)) and also paid up members of WWA (myself included). There is an affiliate mechanism if you are a member of a club to reduce the WWA fees. You can elect to have no TPL insurance in WWA. There is no need to have two sets of TPL insurance which many have or continue to do by inadvertence.

We join all these bodies to support windsurfing and do voluntary work at the clubs and on WCAWA and for WCAA to support the class. Volunteers are the engine room of growth in sailing clubs like MBSC, the best sailing club in WA. You also get weekly racing and daily use of the club and storage and professionally run (volunteers with race management qualifications) starts, judging and courses. This excellence is testament to the achievement of the Australian Masters games for Windsurfing being held at MBSC in 2021.

if I get WCAA and WCAWA membership I can store my equipment at Mounts Bay ?? NO YOU NEED MBSC MEMBERSHIP (contact club) AND YOU MUST PAY FOR STORAGE $50 per board per year on top of membership.

Answers above. Also under the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) as amended by the Windsurfing Competition Rules and Australian Sailing (AS) Prescriptions applicable all entrants in windsurfing events must also be financial members of a club affiliated with AS and have an AS number.

WCAA is affiliated with AWA as I understand it. AWA is affiliated to Australian Sailing but is not a club : WCAWA is unaffiliated at present and is not in the AS or insurance business but will look into being affiliated to WCAA. WCAWA is a not a club either. To get an AS you need to join a club affiliated to Australian Sailing and thereby get an AS number: www.sailingresources.org.au/os/online-services-faq/
Is WWA now a club ? Their website suggests so but, unless I missed it, there is no way to audit it via AS website without searching further. I assume they are stating the truth but the issue with WWA (like any club) is you can't just join it and turn up to RFBYC, RPYC or SOPYC etc. and expect to race on any given day. You can race in WWA club events however.
(Yes I am already a member of WWA, WCAA, WCAWA, MBSC, CYC(social) and presumably AWA by backdoor via WCAWA.)

Join a yacht club WWA good enough for States etc (but if he wants to race a Windsurfer Class weekly in club racing there are two clubs racing them at present eg RFBYC and MBSC)
join WCAA (Yes if he wants to race a Windsurfer Class board in a State, Nationals, Master Games or worlds)
enter the event/ join WCAWA Yes no extra cost included in entry fee along with event t-shirt etc
to be able to race the state's

Like I said before, I nearly entered the states last year for a fun event but got too complicated for one event Hasn't effected our year on year growth We had 39 this year even though you didn't enter and 24 in the year before even though you did not enter. Gangbusters results !

Do the Wally's just do a day membership for people to enter a one off event $50 for regatta membership and AS number just for event of States, Masters Games or Worlds-contact MBSC.

3. This year 2020/21 we have had discussions with WWA to be a sub class within WWA and since then many people with windsurfer LTs have joined WWA for AS numbers insurance and to support the association. DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS EFFORT BY WCAA. WWA RECENTLY ADDED THE WINDSURFER STATE TITLES TO ITS CALENDAR LATE LAST YEAR WHEN PROMPTED TO DO SO BY WCAWA ON THIS FORUM. ONLY A FEW ENTRANTS IN THE STATES WERE IN WWA MOST WERE IN MBSC BUT THERE WERE ONE OR TWO IN OTHER CLUBS EG IWC, EFYC, RPYC and RFBYC and CYC etc.
4. The Windsurfer Class Association of WA is not in any way affiliated with WCAA. TRUE BUT WCAWA IS MAINTAINING A DIALOGUE WITH NICK BEZ AND WCAA AND STATE REP AND IS WORKING WITH WCAA AND SEEKS TO BE PART OF THE EFFORT Other than the reason given by the organisers of the incorporation which was to have an incorporated body to be able to raise sponsorship funds for the proposed Windsurfer Class Worlds at MBSC. SORRY THIS IS NOT THE OBJECT OF THE WCAWA (ALTHOUGH IT MAY BE ONE OF THE OUTCOMES) AND UNSURE WHERE THIS IS COMING FROM. The statement that WCAWA is authorised to organise any events is misleading and incorrect. SORRY THIS IS INACCURATE IT WAS NEVER STATED WCAWA HAD AUTHORITY FROM WCAA NOR DOES IT NEED ANY.
The majority of Windsurfer LT sailors sail at random locations and the membership of WWA is a great option. SURE IS AND I AM AM A MEMBER OF WWA AS WELL AS ARE MANY OTHERS.
For some sailors belonging to a yacht club is important, for consistency and storage etc.YES THERE ARE NOW GOOD SIZED FLEETS SAILING AT MBSC & RFBYC.

Windsurfer Class Association of Western Australia Inc. (WCAWA)

Not sure the purpose of the above message but trust the above reply in bold capitals and below clarifies. It is important for unity rather than division.

WCAWA exists under the laws of the State of Western Australia and has legal and corporate existence and limited liability. It has essentially all of the powers it has under the applicable law and does not need authority from any other body in this state to lawfully carry out its objects.The objects of the WCAWA are:

"To develop and promote all aspects of Windsurfer Class racing, competition, regattas, training, development and recreation in the state of Western Australia."

This association was incorporated on 23 November 2020 under the applicable law in this state.

So far it has in excess of 30 members all of whom did the State titles in WA. All WCAWA members are also members of WCAA coincidentally. This speaks volumes for its mandate and prosecution of its objects. WCAWA works in support of and in assistance of WCAA and encourages all LT sailors to join WCAA.

WCAWA played a key role in assisting the set up of the State Titles which were organised by MBSC.

This included discussions and correspondence with the WA State Rep, the President of WCAA and in drafting of race documents and organising of sponsors and events.

It worked and continues to work in a spirit of co-operation and openness in assisting to set up events.
