Nah not worth it. It is acceptable but if you normally do Peli I'd stay there..... much more consistent

When I said not worth it I meant if you live near Peli which has better (less gusty) wind in a seabreeze) there is no point driving 30mins to applecross.
But if you lived close to Applecross then it is just fine.

(Now maybe Mr Redthumbs who really thinks Melville Beach is not more gusty and inconsistent than Peli pt will be happy)

Its not that bad. Just watch out for obnoxious slalom **** cutting underneath you when waterstarting and other brainless moves, as the place seems to attract an 'enthusiast' crowd some of the time.

Keep an eye out for freestylers near the sand bar (where the three poles are), they always go off the wind just before their tricks. So to recognise their board and if possible don't try race them if your close by and downwind.

Also the speed guys use the sandbar to comb the chop, but during their runs the sun shines exactly behind where they're coming from so keep an eye out as they go pretty fast and you certainly don't want to collide with one of them.

Its definitely a bit gusty but its not a bad spot to sail, probably smoother water than Peli too.

Compared to Peli, on a seabreeze Melville has a couple of knots less wind, it is gustier, and has more holes, but waaay less chop, the parking is free and it is easier to get a spot. The sandbar is really friendly if you're not too confident about gybing and waterstarting. Sometimes it gets too friendly on a low tide...

probably stick with peli by the looks, whatever happens. I certainly enjoyed gybing in the flat spots over the sandbars over the past few norwesters though.

have to get over there at some point to check it out on a seabreeze, cant wait for them to start proper again!
