We- my 11 year old son and myself are looking for a couple of 4.5m to 6m sails and masts to use in the building of a "Lake Lefroy Mini-Land yacht".
We could also do with a couple of broken masts that we can turn into booms for the sail. Damaged sails can be helpful as donors for re-cut and modified sails
Those in the know tell me that dacron sails are preferable as they are easier to cut and re-sew, but we will take what ever we can find.
We are located in the northern suburbs of Perth, but have 2 sets of parents/ grandparents living in mandurah who can pick up gear for us.
Now is your chance to clear out your old, unwanted, damaged or retired gear knowing it will go to a good cause (the building of an anti-playstation device!)

Come on, surely someone here has an old blown-out dacron sail that they'd be willing to convert into a case of beer? I know which one would be more useful to me

Have a Standard Diameter Mast, Gun Cross brand 55% carbon mast top section if it is any good to you. Only two years old.

i have alot of sails that i dont use from 5m - 12m some broken carbon booms i'am sure there would be something you could use, what and how much stuff are you after ?freo area
We are ideally chasing enough stuff to make a couple of different sized sails to fit to our landyacht, as Brodie is only about 30 kilograms and I am closer to 80 I might need a bigger sail than Brodie does... I also think that there is a pretty good chance that we might break or tear a few things while learning how to pilot one of these things,
Any leftover sails or masts and booms that we collect, I plan on handing over to anyone else starting to build a landyacht or to on of the blokes in kalgoorlie.
KOAS, SJB and Mineral- I will be back in Perth in 2 weeks- so I plan to be contacting you all then to chase up any offers of bits and pieces.

Good on ya , folks, Steve I have 1broken Kilwell left that will do for a boom . I will brig it down in the school Hols . When I come down I plan to bring down a MINI or 2 so you can have a go. A friend has suggested a Carpark at Belmont Raceway. He has sailed there before and the management asked that he not sail if horsesare using the track, otherwise OK. Send me n email and we can arrange a day.. I will also bring some of the magic drill tube pipe as I have just got a load from the Kambalda Tip.

Its got cold here too- its only got to 26 today, and possible thunder and lightning tomorrow, which means it might be a quiet day for me.
It isnt a good idea to be handling industrial quantities of explosives during a thunderstorm when you have been volunteered to be the occupational heath and safety rep for the drill and blast crew at the mine.....
Boss is also worried about me- he saw me wandering around the company stores yard measuring for axles and caught up with me when I was convincing our boily/ machinist to make my rear axles (our drill steels are about 5 meters too long and over 120mm too wide to use) but no steel of the correct size so I will make them myself at home.
