Are you guyz interested in trying to get a Mandurah Windsurfing Festival happening?
A while back we talked about having a NM event which would be ideal at the Peel estuary mandurah. There was lot's of interest but it went nowhere. A few of us have recently thought of reinvigorating the idea, getting WWA involved and maybe expanding the idea to make it a festival of windsurfing for a 7 to 10 period, just before the Ledge to Lancellin event.
A Festival denotes a variety of activities, a celebration and promotion, dec/jan is the windy time of year, we have a magnificent resource in the peel estuary, why not try and create a new tradition/festival. I have contact the city of mandurah but they haven't got back to me yet.
It's just an idea atm, would want input from every interest group in windsurfing, and as a by-product we might get WWA some exposure and a membership drive??
I am all in favor for anything that promotes the great sport of windsurfing, i have never sailed in the peel estuary and i have only ever had great reviews passed back to me about it. It sounds like a good idea but of course we would have to talk logistics, councils, and it would have to be lots of fun, lets get together and have a chat as we are starting to organise our events calender already.
