Previous – 06/07 AGM Minutes Passed – Paul Dvorak 2nd John Grulich

2007 Reports – Chairman and Treasurer

Chairman’s Report – Paul Dvorak
2007 – Steep learning curve encountered due to difficulties faced, given lost committee members including Chair. – Member numbers down – recreational approach working in attracting support – looking to next year – possible approach to target a smaller number of events (6ish) – less events - done better to give more enjoyment to general sailors
Cater for all sailors in the events run – Beginners to experts.
Wave events – rationalisation…… Generate a Positive “vibe” about what is on offer.
This year’s committee has encountered the usual red tape – insurance, councils, risk management etc.
Social nature of events seems to be a winning formula. Social events seem to work on a number of levels.
Interest from speed sector re events – approached - no interest /support in working to make it happen.
Outlook is very positive for 08-09 – focus on new approach – fun and value for members.

Treasurers Report - John Grulich - Tabled copies
.
Key points net loss $1800 – mainly due to membership numbers going down – reasons - Lancelin not using WWA insurance for Ledge to Lancelin race – own insurance.
Safety Bay member numbers down
Geraldton member numbers down
PayPal imitative – big success – 30 memberships ($41 total charge for service) reducing treasurer workload
Social membership not a big success
Bank interest improved – moved term deposit account to higher rate.
Lancelin generous with payments for WWA’s running of wave and slalom events.
Wave events overall have lost a small amount.

General discussion in response to Reports_
Ian Grose – Association responsible to conserve monies to ensure it is well spent on a well planned future direction.

Garry Baker – Noted from experience with other sports structures - No availability of coaching for youth in windsurfing.

Steven Meszaros – Use money to help grow sport – flyers, mail drop to sailors, welcome to windsurfing, parties. Build some “vibe”… WWA needs critical mass to do work – others – not just committee.

Tom Radis – Response from Geraldton Windsurfing Club’s Coronation Beach Event – Mambo style event – casual with presentation, food, social, no pressure. LOVED IT!

Paul Dvorak – WWA T-Shirts proposed– called for other ideas to encourage membership.

Paul Dvorak – Website – maybe need tuition for use – maintenance of website – Steven Meszaros offered to organise tutor for website. Dave Brown suggested by SM.
