Just a reminder about some of the Hazards
The "Rock Garden" or with the tides they are at the moment "The zone of death"
Whenever we have one of these events there is normally one or two people who sail through the rock garden and luckily only destroy a fin, so stay away from the posted area, if in doubt ask one of the "Locals"
Here's a Vid we made on a very low tide showing most of the rocks we dodge
When sailing in close to shore,
UNHOOK and GET OUT OF FOOTSTRAPS It can get real shallow real quick.
If you hit the bottom hard, let go fall backwards like a starfish and you should be (in theory) ok and your mast shouldn't smash your board.
WeedUnfortunately with all the
tourists terrorists down on holidays there is lots of fine weed floating around in the water so if you have weedies bring them.
These terrorists also like crabbing so in technical terms there can be sh1tloads of crab nets out there with lovely floating PP rope lines on the good crab nets have nice visible floats the bad ones are when the boaties use clear bottles, bad for pointers ok for weedies.
Wild life
Crabs,
Small aggressive ones are close to the shore, it is acceptable to squeal like a biatch when they ambush your feet

(I do)
Stingrays,
Haven't seen any (or hit any) for weeks but they out there
Sharks,
yep them to, couple of small ones spotted near the boat stuck on the sand bar across the bay, realistically be more concerned about d1ckheads in boats
Cobblers,
Hide in weed, don't jump of your board and land on your feet in the weed, swirl your feet around a bit before putting them down first, if you can avoid walking through the weed then that's even better.
If you do have the misfortune of treading on one and you haven't done so before you are in for an interesting experience.
Heat is the best way to negate the toxin,
I will have some air activated heat packs which I keep in my car and will also give some to the organizers. The local chemist sells these and wheat filled heat packs which are good for use around the house when you get home.
