I was out yesterday from Pelican Point from 4.30-6.00 and it was blowing 20-25kn, maybe more in the gusts, is there something wrong with Melville anemometer?

Unless there was a spinnaker wrapped around the spit post....it looks like it was reading ok as most of the other stations dropped off at around the same time.
Ummm on second thoughts it doesn't look good today...probably copped a hiding from a passing yacht last night.

Actually I was surprised at the melville readings for late yesterday arvo also. It is usually similar here to Melville water and it seemed a lot windier than the 15 knot avge indicated on the graph. 20 at least. Maybe the anemometer sustained some damage. It certainly looks broken today!

Has Captain Cook Cruises sent any ferries off to the smash repairers?
Wouldn't suprise me, the blind bastards.

I'd say an incident happened just after 7.15...

The other anemometers dropped also, but later and less precipitously.

I noticed that too, I was out on Tues arvo at pelican pt and there were definitely some gusts well over 25knts when the squalls came through, but it hadnt registered them when i jumped on seabreeze that night...

The arrows are 10 min averages so you won't see individual gusts on the graph.
That's my understanding any way.

When are they going to get it fixed?
It's been down for nearly two weeks now.

or just go down to the river and wait for the wind to come in, like in the good ol' days.
