Nice vid Elmo. If you'd kept filming for half an hour you'd have got me finishing. Yeah Nebs, 6.0 is way under done eh? I was in the same boat. Spent a long time floating waiting for some wind out there. Hard to get your head around needing a floaty board and a 7.0+ sail in 20+ knts.

Guys, I've been watching the GPS movie for the Ledge to Lancelin. What happens when you pull in to the shore half way through the race like 'Evets'? Do you need to get going and sail on through to the finish, or can you be picked up at that point by car if you've had some kiond of equipment failure? Hopefully 'Evets' was ok - looks like he might have ended up walking to Lancelin. How does this affect the sign on and sign off - is it possible to end up with competitors strewn between Ledge Point and the finish line?

It was "suggested" to him that he retire, and he was picked up by ute and transported back to the finish line.
The event coordination is extremely well done, you get a number written on your hand when you register, and you check that number in at the finish. The coordinators make sure that no-one is missing at the end of the race, they're pretty draconian about making sure you check in afterwards (as they should be!).
I'd just like to congratulate myself on finishing last in the open category. Somewhat underpowered all the way round on an 80l wave board and 5.7 sail. I even had the rescue boat following at the end cos they thought I was going to keel over and not be able to get out of the drink. However, having two groupies standing on the beach waiting (or worrying) for me with a cold beer (it warmed up a bit cos I was so slow) made it all worthwhile.
Nasty, just finishing is an accomplishment. Anyone doing it in more than an hour deserves praise as much as the winners as it's damn hard being out there that long. The slower you do it, the harder it gets. Especially so if you fall in lots. Being under powered makes a tough race so much tougher. Kudos to all who used less than a 6.5.
