Due to the amount of PM's i have received. I though i would give everybody the heads up on what conditions you need for the Lechenault Inlet to turn it on with butter smooth water that goes for 3NM's
WSW, W WNW Any wind with westerly in it is a bit square but loads of fun as you can sail close to shore (tide permiting) and fang along in knee deep water for up to 4NM's
This happen quite alot in winter and is grerat for alpha's and 1hr's
SSW, SW, NNWThese directions are the ones you want for speed. The inlet runs north/south so you need these wind directions to sail broad without running out of water.
TidesDuring summer we have nice lowish tide, these combined with a good SW'er give you the perfect smooth speed strip. Most of the time you are saling in waist to knee deep water. Due to last years snot weed growth weed fins are needed.
During winter i mostly use a pointer. As the winter fronts hit it turns it on, along as we dont get too much of a storm surge, as this makes the run really choppy (just like the swan)
I hope this is helpful enough.
In winter if we get a good forecast i would love to organise some informal racing especially in a westerly as we could drag race for three NM's gybe round a mark and drag back. Perhaps even a 1 hour challenge. The sailor who does the most laps wins
