Who thinks this will actually happen www.bom.gov.au/products/IDW60281.shtml

And if it does - will you be on the water?

just got this in my inbox... whos up for a sail sunday morning?

A cyclone watch has just been issued for Coastal Areas from Jurien Bay to Albany, including Perth, Bunbury and Busselton.

Severe Tropical Cyclone Bianca is expected to gradually weaken as it takes a
more southerly track overnight. On Saturday Bianca will move in a southeasterly
direction towards the southwest corner of the state while weakening steadily.
However there is a significant risk that Bianca will maintain tropical cyclone
intensity as it approaches the coast early on Sunday. If this scenario
eventuates, coastal areas between Jurien Bay and Albany could experience
DAMAGING WINDS with gusts to 120 kilometres per hour.

On Sunday tides between Jurien Bay and Cape Naturaliste are likely to rise
significantly above the normal high tide mark with VERY ROUGH SEAS, DANGEROUS
SURF and FLOODING of LOW LYING COASTAL AREAS. SIGNIFICANT COASTAL EROSION is
possible. Heavy rainfall is also possible on the southern side of the system.
FLASH FLOODING is possible but extensive flooding is not expected.

SEVERE to EXTREME FIRE DANGERS are likely across a broad area south of a line
from Geraldton to Esperance on Sunday.

Further details are available from the Bureau of Meteorology (www.bom.gov.au)

A Watch is the first level of warning and it is still possible that no impact will be felt in the Perth Metropolitan Area. You may wish to monitor the situation and we would suggest that you consider tidying up any loose items today rather than wait until Sunday morning.

If NW direction with about 40knts- i will be out at crazy waves south freo or dutchies, weapon of choice 4.2 severne renegade and 80L Acid or Goya ( im 95 kg)
If its too hardcore for the ocean (50-60 knts that's hardcore-everyone that sailed in 50/60 knts knows thats hardoce-even for a heavy bstrd like myself and specially if you dont have 3.5 sail) or if it's too onshore, than i will go on the river - either way i will be out to taste Bianca:)

It's too insane to not go out.
I'll be looking at Trigg/Mettams, but if it's too sloppy/messy/dangerous out there, then I'll definitely be out on the river.

I've got a 4.1 I've been dying to try out

I really dont think it will eventuate into anything...

probably wont get much more then 20 knots and allot of rain. we can only hope tho.
If its not too insane i will be out! this is a pretty rare chance to sail an actual cyclone if its still a TC by the time it gets here. if its sailable i will sail it.

Dunno why i got red thumbs for my previous post...

I think sailing is a must... even if its only for 5min getting flattened. Though like a few others have said, I think it will fizzle and be nothing more than a summer storm by the time it reaches perth. Still could be fun though.

Its soo fkn hot right now.

5.5?! ill be on a 1.8 if its 50 kn! do they make them that small? might pull out a hanky.

i think itll die to a depression but still put out 35 - 45 kn, itll be a good watch to see how high any kiters go up if any go out. im always amazed by the way the ocenn behaves when its like this too.

i can safely say im not sailing in this one though.

Cyclone may have fizzled but we still got a bit of a storm surge, here are two pics of the Jetty at Safety Bay taken about an hour apart, this is the first time I have seen it go under
