East coast low

couple of shots from the republic of tas today, solid NE swell from the east coast low affecting the mainland. Could of used a bit more wind, float and ride was a struggle

Anyone get out in the sydney area?

We get those types of conditions at least 3 times a year in qld..

but at least you dont have to live near antarctica
tassies advantage is being a small island - you can usually find a good break most weeks if you dont mind being mobile. Plus westerly systems often set in for a week or more, mostly from autumn thru to spring

Dave .... sailed Long Reef the day before the big swell ..... ok in W / WSW / SW .... but on the big day the wind blew SSW .... which is terrible for everywhere on the North Side of Syd .... then finally went S today ..... but only at 12 - 14knots .... not enough for the still solid swell.

.... problem here is nearly every beach faces the same direction ..... can't just go round the corner to get a better direction like in Tassie.

thats frustrating Matt.. nothing worse than a good swell with the wrong wind. Glad you guys got the early session though
