I use it in 10 to 25 knts before I get my
92 L quad
When the wind condition are lite and gusty and waves are sloppy
When you catch the wave on the bbox it picks up speed so you can move it around on the wave.great fun board

So, you go out on an 87ltr then when it gets windier you change to a 92ltr quad? Maybe I'm missing something?! Loving the beach wheels - would like one for the walk to Makaha!

sounds like you are using that board in lots of conditions it was and wasnt designed for

cross off 15 - 20 knots is pretty damn windy and drivey on a normal 80- 85 litre board...

is it really going that well in those conditions ?

- i think its important for potential riders to know the conditions it IS going to work in. I would imagine The last thing Starboard would want is tons of riders buying the board for the wrong reasons and being disappointed.

i may be wrong - maybe it does go off in powered conditions.. i would be very surprised though.

I strongly suspect shes going to be a major handful in powered DTL...unless you weigh 100 kegs.

however i can totally see it going off in light to moderate wind cross on conditions - which was the design envelope for this board.

I would be VERY happy to be proven wrong!

Well let's just say I have riden the board in all conditions,I like it in cross to cross/ off that's just me.and yes the board is not design for that.its a fun board to ride.don't want be a pro sailor like some people,just enjoy sailing it.plus I only took one board home with me this time...everyone is different

The Black Box looks like a really fun board for those days that are not ideal for full on powered up DTL wave sailing. There are much better boards in the range for that.

But in saying that, Ty had that thing spinning in a dime off the top sending buckets everywhere. Bottom turns on a lumpy face were another story. Bounced around a bit due to the hull shape I guess. (Not a lot of rocker). On a glassy face it behaved quite well.

It really looks comfortable on the mushy waves. (Which is usually a higher percentage of the time).

There is no doubt that he would have had his dedicated wave board if he had it with him when the wind picked up / cross off.

I guess its horses for course. In most condition we usually get it looks like a nice horse to be on.

Fit for purpose for those not so good days.

The smile on his face after that session said it all.

My 2 cents worth.

Want be a board for everyone's taste .at 90kg I have been riding it up to 25knts.you still need that full on wave board for jumping and down the line sailing
It could take over as been my big board
