come on now some one has to take the blame????? was it you leman?? or windaddict, i think it was windaddict i am sure of it.. he had a smile on his face driving off yesterdy in his hot rod.. maybe it was kato??? or umm windsufering??
Windaddict has to take the blame i think![]()
I think fellas our season has been so crap that we all need to unite and slaughter a goat, who is up for a no wind party???? windsurfers all unite around the bay at green point
we will have live music and chicks there and slaughter a goat..
The 20 knots was OK, but there was more sand than water this afternoon. Not to mention about 30+ kites. It was like sailing through a plague of jellyfish.
Like Jman siad it has been good extended weekend.
I had 4 days in row on the bay with winds around the 20 knot mark and mostly sunny. I'm not complaining.
Dont know what you guys are on about?? Ricketts both days did not seem to blow over 15 knots it was crap.. Love was on a 9m sail at ricketts... i understand kato might of got 20 knots at inverloch but the rest of you guys??????????????![]()

Hey Flip - well I can confirm Saturday at Elwood was definitely over 15 knots for about 1.5 hours as I was there. Futura111 & 7m sail. Nicely powered for most of it. I hear Friday was even better!
Fawkner Beacon was pushing 20 knots for most of the afternoon and Moorabbin was pushing 18 knots. As a rule of thumb I split the difference for the actual wind on the beaches.
I had a lovely time and did the run from Hampton to Black Rock and back. The wind was particularly solid out near the shoal.
You do know that the wind is generally stronger about 500m from the beach and sea breezes are generally stronger at the north end of the bay.
What are you on about Flipper.
- Thurs wavesail Phillip Island:Cat Bay 15-21kts Decent
- Fri Seabreeze Sail (Hypersonic) Mornington 14-17kts Decent
- Sat Seabreeze Sail (Hypersonic) Mornington 16-20kts Excellent
- Sun Seabreeze Sail (Hypersonic) Mornington 16-21kts Excellent
Admittably we aren't getting big winds but the seabreezes are fun.
I will back Flipper up a bit here. Ricketts Sat I was on a 9.8 and 133 litre board. Struggled to plane for the first 30 mins then it freshened and I was a bit overpowered for a while. Just as I contemplated coming in to change to smaller gear it died in the proverbial.
Yesterday at Ricketts arrived around 3.30. Looked fairly windy so rigged a Koyote 6.6 on the Lov Mus large and it was perfect for a while but backed off again just like Saturday. Anything smaller than 6.5 and 110 litres would have been pretty useless.
Always more wind at the top end of the bay for sure. I work in Port Melbourne and often see it when I drive home, lots of wind at Middle Park but by the time I get to Sandringham it is soft.
Yeah I am wondering if the weekend wind was a proper seabreeze. Because it was pumping quite nicely in Mornington and usually it is much stronger your way. Was their some kind of front assisting it?
Today is hotter and the seabreeze appears non-existant. Well as long as it blows I'm happy, and sailing in boardshorts is a bonus!
Gents,
At Elwood, Thursday, Friday and Saturday could all be classed as a seabreze. If you check the graphs, notice the BIG jump in wind speed as it arrived.
Sunday wasn't a sea breeze. The wind gradually built from 10 am until about 5 pm.
For fun, also check the Beacon graph for each day.
Was pleased that today there was nothing: suffering from sore body disease from the previous 4 days. Must be old age.
Here is the solution to your "No wind problem" Flipper
Step 1, Log out of Seabreeze
Step 2, Turn off computer
Step 3, Load the car with all of your gear and try to include a sail over 5.5M,
and a board that will actually float.
Step 4, Cruise down to the beach and enjoy![]()

Look fellas, I know what you mean the city does get more WINDDDDDDD, but I think ricketts alot of times unless it's east, sits in the mid range strength of the seabreezes.. Because the closer you drive to the city the breezes seem stronger. So I think Ricketts in a southly most the time, not all the time, gets the mid range strength of the breezes...
One thing wich made my day any way was seen all the windsurfers at ricketts near the yacht club side waiting for the crappy wind to change..There was quite a few guys there considering it was a crappy day, and there was only about 2 or 3 kiters out.. So that was cool to see so many guys who are keen to windsurf.. I think the thing that's holding back the sport right now is the wind, we have the numbers alright..
Just I thought this weekend the skunk was every where that Kato let loose, cause windaddict told me Kato let loose a skunk....
Still wich one of you dudes is up for a no wind party full of chicks?????
