Lack of wind has driven me to this...
I was looking at learning about this for something work-related, but then I thought it might be useful for windsurfing.
It's basically a twitter map of everyone who tweets "#windsurflaunch" from their phone.

Have a look and let me know what you think.
This looks interesting. Is the idea that you can tweet about conditions at the location? That would be really useful.
it's an HTC, I was getting server permissions errors, I think I worked out how to do it, will try again tomorrow from GP.
stuart could you look at the last tweet I did and tell me what I did wrong? The location appears with the tweet but it still doesnt locate on the map. My guess is that I need to put the location in before the #windsurflaunch. But I dont want to add too many "test tweets" and stuff it up anymore than I have.
Hi Carey
Don't worry about stuffing it up! There's hardly any activity on it. The tests make it look like people are interested (at the moment, I'm thinking that it's just going to die in its current form!)
I had a look at Iphone4 last night and it seems that it really isn't as easy as I thought it would be.
I have an Android htc and the location sharing is something that happens outside of the tweet ie a property of the tweet like your name, date and time etc. You basically change an option at the bottom of the screen before you tweet - it shows beneath the tweet, you have four options ... @, camera, media, location
The location thing looks like a cross hair from a gun. If you select it, it goes blue and then your tweet has the location.
Feel free to have a play on the site. If you still can't get it to work, I'll be at Green point hoping the wind comes before sunset tonight...
Cheers
Stuart
