I was on me way to inverloch on the weekend and decided to stop by and have alook at this bay alot of windsurfers have told me about. They say that on its day can be as good as sandy point. When i first got there i checked out corinella first wich is next to the bay it looked like a awseome place to sail. Then i went on to coronet bay and what did a find a windsurfer out in the middle of no where sailing the place. It looked like a dream to sail. Flat water and super windy with a reef that swings out in the bay, exsposed to a mini rock island called reef island. And right along the reef it had water as flat as sandy point with wind blowing onto the reef. It looked like you could easy break your speed record right there and then. What i cant work out is why more windsurfers dont sail there and kiters well dont tell em but i think it would be a kite paradise to them. i think i will sail there next and post you some pics my friends.
if ya want to sail there it looks like it will work on most wind directions as the land is real flat around the area.
so clean wind, miles of flat water in a huge bay all to your self. does not get much better than that folks
Thats Bull**** i live there it works in a s or sw and yes with the right tide its as good as sandy point just not as long but its a hell of alot closer to melbourne. usually its just me and another local guy that sail there. you can sail coronet bay and reef island on any wind except for anything with east in it. the speed strip only works in a s or sw. i also sail all the unsailed wave spots around the phillip island.
Not sure how you sail this on anything but a N/W as the other sides shore line is all over the place. Maybe I won,t be the only one out there when its good.
i was going to speedsail with me bro the other side of the island in a swester is it possible Kato or is there to many rocks????
Yes its great bump and jump in a nw. for the speed run you sail the other side in a sw there is only one rocky reef that you have to watch out for but you can sail within a metre of it because it drops off realy deep
It sounds like someone should add it to this site
