I've just had a re-repaired fin box show some signs of cracking again. The board is a recent freestyle wave model with a US box and a decent fin (100 l board to carry a 6 m sail). I'm pondering trying to get the box changed to a powerbox or whatever it is that goes all the way through for improved strength and rigidity.
Has anyone tried this? Is it worthwhile?
Appreciate any suggestions people can offer.

I have just done this on a FSW board. Not because of failure, but wanting a stronger box to run a larger sail / fin combo.
When I say I did, I found a good guy in QLD to do it and passed to him.
Suggest you ask around re; a board repairer / manufacturer down your way.
Some time ago, I ripped a US box out of a wave board (brand will remain nameless). The stringers either side of the board were too small. Had them replaced and a new box fitted. Could not tell it was done and sailed that board for another 4 yrs before I retired it.
Moral of the story
find an good guy to do and you will have no issues (get a bigger fin range options as well)
I did that exactly that recently, well more specifically Mr Nitschke did for me.
Find a good repairer and they can work magic.
