Has anyone seen this?

You type in your weight and it gives ideal board size and sail size for different wind conditions.

It's interesting mucking around with the figures. It looks like a reasonable guide to follow.

What do others think of it?

Bugger me.....

Old Salty and I have been chating about fin size and weather is depends on board or sail size.

That's awesome!!

Thanks for the very interesting link.

For the record, it's pretty close to what I run.

Nah. Way out. I'd never get planing in big winds with the sizes it comes up with.

I reckon the spreadsheet could be an ad for a low carb diet. Jim could just as easily presented the data as type in what gear you have and see how much weight you got to aim for to get it working properly. It explains exactly why a 5.8 no longer works for me in 20 knots but works in 26.

I don't understand the fin stuff too well. Not sure what he means by "heavy footed". Anyone got a good link to a site that explains all about fins?

I took that as backfoot pressure.
