I was at Rosebud recently for the first time. Has anyone experience with windsurfing there or is it too shallow? Which wind directions are best?
Could be the perfect spot for working on jibes without needing to waterstart after each fall.

but a great place to learn to gybe is at RYE on a Northerly!
Its a bit bumpy, but you can stand up straight away!
I used to stay for years in a caravan on the foreshore at Tootgarook which is right next to Rosebud. Windsurfing is definitely possible. Around this time of the year there can be the odd morning northerly. The seabreezes down there can sometimes be weaker than at the top of the bay and a bit gusty coming off the land. It's a good idea to sail down to Rye where the wind is cleaner in a southerly, fang around there and come back when the wind starts to drop later in the evening. The water will be flat and good for blasting. I had one of my best sails sailing from Tootgarook to the Sorrento ferry and back with a 5.7 cranked in 22 - 25 knots on a summer's afternoon.
Definately sailable- I had a quick blast just up the road at Safety Beach the other day. It was SW but still a bit too offshore to sail at Rosebud or Dromana. Safety Beach faces a bit more westerly so it was OK. I reckon the more west in it the better for Rosebud. It's cross-onshore and westerlies tend to be cleaner and have a bit more grunt in them than northerlies. I agree that Rye is the go for more southerly- less turbulence coming off the land. Park just opposite Daly Avenue. Too many hills behind Rosebud I think for clean air in a southerly. See you out there.
