Hi, there is a new weather station at Rye Yacht Club that has the weather details, plus also some webcameras so you can see the weather as well as the water conditions - it is available at www.ryeweather.com.au we hope you find it useful. You can see the beach at the designated wind surfing zone, by viewing the Rye Front Beach camera.
All the best.
Rye Yacht Club.
Is the wind-speed from the South Channel wind-meter, or is there a wind-meter at Rye yacht club (or elsewhere)?
Thanks, PPK,
The site looks very interesting, but as Mathew says, are you measuring the wind speed at the yacht club?
Mathew, pending PPK's reply, you can always check the wind at Blairgowrie Yacht Club here: www.bys.asn.au/?option=com_content&view=article&id=70&Itemid=91. On a N, NW and NE, what generally happens at Blairgowrie, happens at Rye.
When determining whether the weather is good at Rye, I look at the South Channel meter, then subtract about 10kn.
I'm thinking that maybe we could ask Baywx to include these extra wind meters, to give us a bit more coverage.
Hi, Mathew,
The link to the Bairgowrie site is already on the Baywx page. Select South Channel and, when it displays, its above the blue line, 4th from the LHS of the page.

Given South Channel is down today, seemed perfect timing to link ryeweather to www.baywx.com.au/schan.html
Also a link to the cams in the WebCams section, and the weather station under the Weather Stations section (both under "Temps Tide Sun" drop down menu").
Hi, the weather station is positioned on top of the tower at Rye Yacht Club on the foreshore. This is also where the web cameras are positioned.
