90% chance that we have scored an overnight stay at San Remo Sunday night. So I am planning some planning at Inverloch for anyone that wants to join me at "The Bar"
I will be down Sunday and Monday
See you there
Hey Saltmeister,
Don't rule out San Remo itself for a sail. It's one of my favourite spots!
You launch from a great grassy rigging up spot at the car park out the front of the caravan park, walk down a little access track and head out.
It's usually nice flat water on the inside, with gentle rolling waves breaking over a sand bar further out.
In the right conditions it's an easy introduction to some nice little waves to jump and ride.
You need to sail about 2-3 hours either side of high tide.
Have a look on google earth
Salty - I'm also planning for some planing this w/e, subject to purchasing a wettie tomorrow am. I'll be down earlyish on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing you in full flight in your neoprene mask. People pay good money in Amsterdam to watch this stuff live...
well if there's no wind then SURF's UP!. ( with the long w/end crowds though
)
Hey Bondalucci - at san remo where you guys sail is there any current? on an "average" high tide can you stand up on the sand? Just wondering what would happen if the wind dropped out.
cheers
eddy
Went to Inverloch Sunday and did not get wet
Wind 5 - 8 kts. So went for a cruise checking out different launch sites. Had a look at San Remo and Kato I reckon the channel was doing 8 kts. It was flying.
Bondy - the launch site from the caravan park looked good.
Hey guys. Back safe and sound Jman.
Eddy, the current moves fast at the San Remo bridge 'cos it is so narrow there.
The look probably puts people off. But launching from the near the caravan pk is sort of round the corner and the current doesn't really flow there.... the tide just goes out like normal over the 1km out to the sand bar. However, if you go beyond the sand bar and keep heading across the deep channel toward Phillip Island, you are more exposed to the current, but as you get near the PI shore the tidal flow is not that fast.
I usually sail out to the furthest sand bar and jibe on that (you can stand up on it) - Although I've sailed across to PI and back many times and haven'thad any problems. I reckon the mouth at Inveloch is probably more treacherous!!!
