Getting back to windsurfing after a while off. Was never that good to start with either so I'm pretty close to a beginner.

Curious to find out where people windsurf in what conditions? Particularly round the east side of the bay (St Kilda / Elwood / Brighton / Hampton / Beaumaris / Mentone ... )

I used to sail from Beaumaris yacht club, used to see windsurfers inside the reef markers outside the club. I live near Brighton beach - saw some windsurfers going from the little patch of grass towards the end of the beach boxes on Sunday...

Suggestions appreciated!

Gidday Pete,

We usually sail at Hampton, but Dendy and Elwood are also good options for you, just go out on gentler winds until your skills are up.
I will pm you my phone number if you don't mind sailing with your old y.6 teacher.
What sort of gear do you have? A very wide, floaty board is important if your skills are at beginner level.

Hi Bill, small world!

Lani mentioned you windsurf the other day.

Got a 160ltr JP funster with a 5.7 KA kaos. I'm not lightweight so I think its a good starting setup for me, im not an absolute beginner (close though!). Actually bought the board from WA as it was a lot cheaper than buying in Vic, so hoping it arrives by the weekend.

I remember many years ago you were talking about buying a dingy, 125 I think? Windsurfing the better option?

Windsurfing is a lot faster and a big rush.
Sounds like they gave you good advice on the gear as it should suit you well during the beginner + stage. I am on hols for another week so I will text you whenever I am going out. (Possibly going out tomorrow arvo if you want to come down for a chat. No good lending you my gear whilst waiting for yours to arrive as it will probably be too small. I recall you are a lot bigger than me)

Cheers for the offer, can't make it tomorrow but I'll be keen to come down once my gear arrives
