Still early days, and forecasts are likely to change, but, curious to know where people are thinking of windsurfing this Sat/Sun? Based on the current forecast, Green Point Saturday? Ricketts Sunday? Or Elsewhere?

Where about's at Venus Bay do you windsurf windaddict? Is there a "general" surf beach there, or elsewhere?

There are a few places, like surf drive, No.3 beach, No.4 beach and No.5 beach..

They all have smallish car parks, so if one is full, I'll go to the next one...

Here is a link:

If you scroll North West you will see the other locations.

Where is good on the peninsula in a westerly? Ideally with some rideable waves?

I might well be wrong but if it is Westerly Point Leo, FLinders and 13th Beach are the best options. Can anyone confirm this?

If they are good I will sail one of them on Sunday (subject to the forecast).

P.S How long to get to Venus Bay from Mornington?

Have a Hol House down at VB.
From Chelsea its 1hr 45 going the back way thru Leongatha, quicker by a bit, way quicker in holiday times.
Sailing in a northerly there is a bit bit tricky. Look for the easterly that blows 2 -3 days in a row. Solid 20-25 kts and is cross shore off the beaches (1-5 as Windaddict said). Enough cross shore to hold up the waves, but not enough to blow you to tassie when the gear fails!
As for a Northerly, not sure. You sailed much in a NW Windaddict?

Marcus,
Will it be any good at Venus? as I might come with a mate... I enjoyed following you on the waves at Shoreham.

I'm up for shoreham or similar on Sunday. I haven't sailed there before so don't fancy sailing alone (or driving down without knowing I won't be sailing alone)

If anyone wants to share LPG costs from Dendy then I'll happily give them a lift in the van.

I don't think Shoram or Leo would be any good if it has any North in it as it will be off shore....SW to S is ideal for those two spots...

I must admit I have not sailed Venus bay on a w/nw but have sailed at Warratah bay several times in that direction, and it goes off, and can get quite huge swell, also found that the wind can be up to 10 knots more down there....I am thinking to try Venus bay this time as its a little closer and the land runs along the same direction as Warratah so the condtions should be the same.
PM me your mobile Rosso, and I will text you if I go down there tomorrow, but pretty sure that I will be, as keen to check it out...

Flinders would be good also, but if its huge, can be a bit hairy with that reef if you go over in a wave.

Gary, where abouts do you sail when on the bay? I live in Edithvale just next door to you...

From Dendy, it's 2:45 hours to get to Venus Bay.

There must be somewhere closer that works in a westerly/ Northwesterly.

Is anyone going to be out at Kili?

Here's a pic of what it looked like at Venus bay, was pretty good, out on the 5.0. Some waves were about half mast high though its hard to tell the size from the pic...took me exactly 1 hour 40 to get there.

Great shot! Were you the only one out windaddict?

Ended up at Green Point, first time there. Had a great sail until the 5.5m got too big.

Yep was on the water by myself, though there were a few people fishing and a large group of people collecting Pipi's.

Won't be going there tomorrow though, forecast for bass straight is 35 - 50 knots, going to be pretty gnarly....

got caught in a 50kt squall a couple hundred metres offshore for a few minutes and had to hold rig under...good when it settled back to a mere 30kts though, made for a good sesh! waiting for a bit of relief from these gusty conditions to get out there again!

I'm surprised my wind-tree is still standing.
