Ok guys and gals, give up your secrets. Where is a good place to go for a sail on a westerly. Thinking maybe Saturday is the go. Desperate to try my new anti freeze booties as the last time I went I frooze my toes off.

Well seeing as I am in Geelong, its always Pt Henry on a westerly for me. Hopefully I will be able to get out Saturday morning. Wind forecast is looking good so far.

Any of the eastern bay beaches are ok for any winds from NW to SW, eg:
- Elwood yacht club is always a pretty safe bet...
- Green point can get a tough beach break in a SW, but gives good swell,
- Rickets' can be cross-shore (but I haven't sailed that direction)
- Chelsea has been known for decent down the line surf when its W to SW

The main deal in a W to SW is that the swell is big'ish - but its not too hairy as the wave-crests are usually far enough apart.

Thats the great thing about the western side of Pt Henry. No swell to contend with. Just a little bit of wind chop. Great if you like a little bit of speed
